Piero Guidi confirms his team will not work with BMW in 2016.

Piero Guidi, Team Principal of BMW Motorrad Team Italia SBK Team, has confirmed that his company, M&T Racing, will not be running the factory-supported BMW effort in WorldSBK next year.

“I can only talk for my company, which is M&T Racing and which runs the BMW Motorrad Italia Superbike Team,” Guidi began as he spoke with WorldSBK.com.

“At the moment, we have been told that we are not going along with BMW for the future. We know that BMW is negotiating with other teams and we don’t know what their plans are; I imagine that they want two riders and that is what they told us a few months ago. So we are not part of the game.”

Discussing where this leaves his company, Guidi continued:

“We will see if there is any professional job to be done in World Superbike. We would do it as M&T Racing. We will see what the future brings.”

Asked if he has already begun discussions with other manufacturers, he explained that this is not the case at present.

“Really, we are not,” the Italian resumed. “(After the last races in Qatar) we will start to check if there is any other possibility. For me, it is black and white. Either we do a professional job or we pull out. We have to (make a decision) very soon because the new season starts with practices and tests, immediately after Qatar and during the month of November, so we have to reach an immediate decision. It won’t be easy. We will try our best. If not, that would be okay anyway [smiles].”

Like M&T Racing, manufacturer BMW is also yet to confirm its plans for 2016.
